Terror en Madrid
Estimado Ricardo y colegas españoles.
En Escocia estamos horrorizados por el salvaje y pérfido
atentado contra vuestra gente. Envío mi profunda simpatía y nuestra
admiración por el comportamiento valiente y generoso de los ciudadanos de
Madrid. Estoy estupefacto por este atentado en Madrid donde siempre recibí
la mayor amabilidad y generosidad en mis visitas.
Estamos con vosotros en estos muy malos momentos y nos
unimos en la condena de este acto inhumano.
Con nuestra mas profunda simpatía a las victimas y sus
familias.

Me adhiero enérgicamente a los expresado por Olly Willson.
Mi empatia por vuestra tragedia nace de haber estado en Nueva York el 11 de
septiembre. Hablas del valeroso comportamiento de aquellos que proporcionaron
cuidados y ayuda inmediata; tengo experiencia en ello por haber estado aquella
noche en el Bellevue Hospital en momentos en que los miembros no médicos de mi
familia se sentían menos utiles. Fui presidente de comité de salud publica del
New York County Medical Society y ayude a canalizar el enorme caudal de
esfuerzo. Quizás podrían ser de utilidad el contenido del articulo que os
envió adjunto Addressing Mental Health Needs. pp 49-68, in Levy, B. and Sidel,
V. (eds) Terrorism and Public Health. New York: Oxford University Press,
2003). El lunes 3 de mayo tenemos un simposium "11 de Septiembre, dos años y
medio después" en la reunión de la American Psychiatric Association, aquí en
Nueva York. Antonio Abad es otro vinculo - un español que proporciono los
primeros servicios psiquiátricos en en la Zona Cero.
Nuestro corazón y nuestras oraciones están con vosotros.

Estimado Ricardo;
Escribo para expresar mis mas profundas condolencias y
simpatía a las familias que han sufrido perdidas o heridas en sus seres
queridos, y por aquellos en ayuda y apoyo continuo de las victimas y sus
familias.
También me uno con vuestro sentimiento de que debemos
rechazar la violencia contra inocentes como modo de resolver conflictos.

Dear Ricardo:
I strongly agree with Ollie Wilson's sentiment. My empathy for your tragedy
is born from having been here in New York on September 11. You speak of the
brave behavior of those who provided immediate care and help afterwards; I
experienced this by being ablke to go that night to work at Bellevue
Hospital while the nonmedical members of my family felt less useful. I was
chairman of the public health committee in the New York County Medical
Society and helped channel the enormous outpouring of effort that ensued.
You might be able to make some use of the attached chapter (Addressing
Mental Health Needs. pp 49-68, in Levy, B. and Sidel, V. (eds) Terrorism and
Public Health. New York: Oxford University Press, 2003). On Monday May 3,
from 2-5pm we have a symposium: "September 11: two and a half years later"
at the American Psychiatric Association meeting here in New York. Antonio
Abad is another link - a Spaniard who provided the first psychiatric
services at Ground Zero. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you. I move
that the WAPR Board join your statement.

treacherous attack on your people.I send my deep sympathy and our
admiration for the bravery & unselfish behavoiur of the citizens of
Madrid.I am shocked at this assault on Spain where I have always received
the utmost kindness and generosity on my visits.
We stand with you at this very bad time &
join in condemnation of this inhuman act.Our deepest sympathies to the

I write to express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families who
have suffered the loss and injury of their loved ones and to those who are
helping and continue to support the victims and their families.
I join also with your sentiments that we must reject violence against the
innocent as a way of resolving conflict.
